the vines

Most of our planted varieties are grafted over the pattern 196-17-Castel, well adapted to our sandy soils, shallow and slightly acid.

We can highlight the 2 hectares of Cepas Viejas due to its longevity, with a limited production but wider flavour concentration, taken into account that the old vines have more wood, ensuring a regular and balanced feeding of the grapes, and deeper roots, making the vines more resistant to water shortage.

We set our grapevines in the traditional way, horizontally and over 1,8 metres above the ground, to favour good cluster ventilation and health. This is a well adapted setting in this area of Galicia. Pruning is still carried out manually, with ancient practices such us tying down the vine shoots with Golden Willow (Salix alba vitelina).
